After 30 mins, I realised I was chatting with a BOT !

Monday, December 10, 2007 1 comments

I am sure all beginner yahoo chat room users have experienced it. I am sure you have experienced, but you are just too adamant or shy to accept it. Yes, I AM talking about chatting with a (ro)bot for a long time thinking it is a real girl.

Usually people craving to get a girl to chat with encounter such frustrating experiences. Okay enough about why, what and where people find such robot programs which chat like real people. Ever wondered who created them ? Ever wanted to see a demo ? Do you want to chat with world's best chat bot ever programmed ?

"A.L.I.C.E." ("Artificial Linguistic Internet Computer Entity"), which won the annual Loebner Prize Contest for Most Human Computer three times, and was also the Chatterbox Challenge Champion in 2004.
(taken from wikipedia)

I had an interesting chat with two bots which are different versions of ALICE. One of them is programmed to think its GOD. Its very interesting to experiment with the ways they are programmed to deal with situation. For example when I asked "What is your time zone ?" It replied me saying "Are you asking about my time zone?" Then when I replied "Yes" It said "I don't want to talk about that now"

Smart isn't it?.....
